The engagement speculations began circulating after Zendaya posted a selfie on Instagram, in which she was seen wearing a pearl ring. Zendaya swiftly responded to the rumors, expressing her surprise and shutting down the engagement speculations with an epic reply.
In response to the speculation, Zendaya stated, “I posted it for my hat. Not for the ring on my right finger,” and added, “Seriously, you think that’s how I would drop the news? What?” In a lighthearted tone, she quipped, “Let me just put my full body back so y’all can relax lmao.”
Fans of the popular actor-couple, affectionately known as ‘Tomdaya,’ quickly pointed out that Zendaya had worn the pearl ring on previous occasions and had not made any engagement announcements. The pair, both 27 years old, have been spotted together at various events and outings, including Beyoncé’s Renaissance world tour, after being first seen publicly kissing in July 2021.
This isn’t the first time Zendaya has responded to overzealous fans. In 2021, she criticized social media users for spreading a fake pregnancy announcement post, which she addressed on her Instagram, stating, “See now, this is why I stay off Twitter. Just making stuff up for no reason…weekly.”
Speaking to Elle last August, Zendaya revealed her preference for keeping her relationship with Tom Holland private. She explained, “I can’t not be a person and live my life and love the person I love. It’s about protecting the peace and letting things be your own but also not being afraid to exist.”
