The rankings take into account a country’s influence in terms of political, economic, and military prowess, as perceived by the respondents.

United States – The Dominant Global Force

The United States has retained its top position as the “dominant global force.” The report highlights the USA’s leading status as the world’s largest economy, boasting a GDP of $25.5 trillion. Additionally, the United States is recognized as the “most technologically advanced” nation globally. The country is the primary producer of oil and natural gas worldwide and possesses the largest coal reserves. Its extensive media industry wields far-reaching influence, and it plays pivotal roles in international organizations such as the United Nations and NATO.

China – The Rising Power

China secured the second position in the rankings. It is the world’s second-largest country by landmass and economy. China’s rapid economic growth since 1978 has lifted millions from poverty, but it has also led to challenges like inequality and pollution. Tensions with countries like the United States, particularly regarding human rights concerns, persist. Nevertheless, China’s nuclear capabilities and membership in influential international organizations contribute to its high power ranking.

Russia – Holding Steady

Despite its ongoing conflict with Ukraine, Russia maintains its third-place ranking. Russia’s extensive borders, vast size, key industries in energy and manufacturing, cultural contributions, and history in space exploration bolster its standing. The country also holds memberships in significant international organizations such as the G20 and the United Nations Security Council.

India Secures 12th Position

India secured the 12th position in the 2023 rankings, marking its global influence. While not in the top 10, India’s position reflects its growing significance in the world stage. Factors like its large population, robust economy, and military capabilities contributed to its placement.
