PhonePe, a Bengaluru-based digital payments company, has entered the app store market by launching the Indus Appstore Developer Platform. This platform aims to attract Android developers in India with enticing features, including free registration and app uploads for the first year, zero platform fees, and no commission on in-app purchases. These offerings position PhonePe’s Indus Appstore as a compelling alternative to Google’s Play Store for developers.
The Indus Appstore also caters to the Indian market with localized features like support for third-party payment providers, 12 Indian languages, and a phone number-based login system. PhonePe’s move into the app store space aims to provide a more localized and developer-friendly platform, challenging the dominance of Google Play in India.
