The official release of Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max in India on September 22, 2023, was met with immense demand and long lines outside Apple stores. However, this high demand has now led to delays in product deliveries in some regions, with some customers expected to receive their devices in November.
While the iPhone 15 series has officially hit the Indian market, potential buyers are finding it challenging to secure these coveted devices through authorized retailers in the country. According to News 18, these sought-after smartphones are currently being sold at significantly higher prices than their original retail prices.
Retailers in cities such as Delhi, Jaipur, and Thane are reportedly offering the iPhone 15 Pro Max Natural Titanium variant with 256GB of storage at a premium of Rs. 20,000 over the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MRP) of Rs. 1,59,900. Similarly, the iPhone 15 Pro Titanium Blue model with 256GB of built-in storage is being sold at Rs. 1,51,000, which is Rs. 6,000 more than Apple’s official price.
In Jaipur, the iPhone 15 Pro is being retailed for Rs. 8,000 above its Indian market price. Meanwhile, a retailer in Thane, Maharashtra, is allegedly offering the iPhone 15 Pro Max, priced at Rs. 1,99,900 in India for the 1TB variant, for a staggering Rs. 2,32,000.
Earlier this month, TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo highlighted Apple’s production challenges with the iPhone 15 Pro Max due to the “robust” demand for this particular model. Kuo emphasized that these production hurdles were more pronounced for the iPhone 15 Pro Max compared to other models in the lineup.
The iPhone 15 series, including the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max, was officially launched in India and global markets on September 22, following the company’s unveiling of these highly anticipated devices at its ‘Wonderlust’ event on September 12, 2023.
