Today marks the commencement of one of India’s most revered Hindu festivals, Ganesha Chaturthi. While celebrations are in full swing across the country, Tamil Nadu has taken a celestial and ‘space’ twist to this year’s festivities, drawing widespread attention.
In light of the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the moon’s south pole, Tamil Nadu has given its Ganesha pandal a unique and space-themed makeover that has captured the imagination of many. Although space-themed Ganesha pandals have emerged in various parts of India, Tamil Nadu’s rendition has gone viral for its remarkable attention to detail.
A video circulating on social media showcases a replica of Chandrayaan-3 in Tamil Nadu, and the resemblance to the ISRO spacecraft is strikingly realistic.
The video not only features the Chandrayaan-3 replica but also portrays it hanging by the roadside, with simulated flames, creating the illusion of a rocket launch. This impressive rocket replica was crafted by a local designer named Shanmugam, who intended to pay homage to Chandrayaan-3. It is prominently displayed near the Lord Ganesh idol in Keelkattalai.
The Chandrayaan-3 fever has also spread to Kolkata, where a Ganesha pandal in Salt Lake has placed a Chandrayaan rocket model atop the idol. Inside the pandal, visitors are greeted with a Ganesh idol set against a backdrop resembling the moon’s surface, with Earth suspended in the distance.
It is evident that this Ganesh Chaturthi, India is celebrating its space achievements in diverse and creative ways, paying tribute to the country’s advancements in space exploration.
