Ashwin’s Post-ODI Batting Practice: Dedication Shines Despite Tiring Day

Ravichandran Ashwin, the seasoned cricketer, displayed unwavering dedication on Friday when he was spotted engaging in a batting practice session right after India’s impressive victory over Australia by five wickets in Mohali. The heartening sight of the 37-year-old honing his batting skills came on the heels of a grueling 10-over spell in the demanding and muggy afternoon heat.

Ashwin’s commitment to improving his batting skills was evident as he ventured into the practice net despite the late hour. The support staff played a pivotal role in this endeavor, working diligently alongside him to facilitate his practice session.

Former India all-rounder Abhishek Nayar, commenting on this remarkable display of determination, remarked, “How cool is that? He is batting right in the centre, he’s got a net out. And that’s where the support staff really works hard. It’s past 10, it’s late, and they are still going. He’s got Rahul Dravid at square leg, Vikram Rathour at slips, Mark Waugh at fine leg, so it’s a terrific part of the preparation. I’m sure the management has told him to work on his batting.”

Ashwin, known for his versatile skills as both a bowler and a batsman, had made a fine return to the ODI format in the match. His 10-over spell yielded just 47 runs, and he crucially dismissed Marnus Labuschagne, who was looking well set at the crease.

The dedication and commitment displayed by Ashwin reflect the relentless pursuit of excellence that characterizes top-tier athletes. His post-match batting practice serves as an inspiration to aspiring cricketers and a testament to his passion for the game.
