While watching the high-speed action of superbikes at the demanding Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida during the MotoGP Bharat races, it’s easy to overlook the incredible data crunching and technological prowess behind the scenes. Tata Communications, the broadcast connectivity provider for MotoGP and several other global sporting events, manages this cutting-edge operation.
Nestled amidst the roar of the racetrack, amidst bikes shattering speed barriers and setting new records, you’ll find a cluster of pods and cabins. These are the nerve centers where Tata Communications teams work tirelessly to deliver hundreds of feeds to their broadcast partners worldwide. In their control center, a dedicated team of 4-5 experts vigilantly monitors the master feeds. These feeds are then uplinked to the production facility in Barcelona, Spain, ensuring that the International Programme Feed is distributed to nearly 80% of the broadcasters airing the races live. Some VIP broadcast partners handle their own recording at the venue, with direct uplinks to their stations, primarily located in Europe.
