
Indian shooter Anant Jeet Singh Naruka clinched the silver medal in the men’s skeet event at the Asian Games 2023, further enhancing India’s stellar performance in shooting disciplines at the prestigious event.
Naruka displayed exceptional skill and composure throughout the competition, maintaining a perfect record until the crucial final rounds. He concluded the event with an impressive score of 58 out of 60, hitting all 10 targets in his last round. However, despite his remarkable performance, the gold medal eluded him.
Kuwait’s Abdullah Alrashidi emerged as the gold medalist, equalling the world record with a flawless score of 60 out of 60, securing the top spot on the podium. Naruka’s silver medal highlighted his exceptional talent and determination on the shooting range.
In the men’s skeet event, Nasser Al-Attiya of Qatar secured the bronze medal with a score of 46.
Earlier in the day, the Indian trio of Anant Jeet Naruka, Angad Vir Singh Bajwa, and Gurjoat Khangura showcased their teamwork and shooting prowess by winning the team bronze. They collectively achieved a score of 355, contributing to India’s medal tally in shooting at the Asian Games.
The gold medal in the team event was claimed by the host nation, China, while Qatar secured the silver.
While Indian shooters have been delivering outstanding performances, the women’s skeet shooting team faced tough competition and finished in the fourth position, behind Kazakhstan, China, and Thailand, in the shotgun skeet event.
